Daniel and the Revelation 1897 – Preface

Preface 1. With Enoch, the seventh from Adam, and for three hundred and eight years contemporary with Adam, the voice of prophecy began to be heard through human lips. For so the apostle Jude declared: “And Enoch, also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them, of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” Jude 14, 15. This sublime and earliest prophecy reaches to the end of time. And through all the intervening ages, other prophecies have covered all the more important events in the great drama of history. 2. The coming to pass of these great events has been but the response of history to what the prophecies had declared. And thus amid the ever present evidences of the short-sightedness of men, and the ever-recurring failures of human schemes, a voice has continually gone up from earth to heaven, “The word of the Lord endureth forever.” 3. It is for the purpose of calling attention to some of these important prophetico-historical lessons, if we may be permitted to coin a word, that this volume is written. And the books of … Continued

Daniel and the Revelation 1897 Edition

This page was created to establish the place which the book Daniel and the Revelation holds in God’s plan to bring the light of truth to the world. The download of the true 1897 Edition is provided above in the first sentence of this first paragraph. That is because there were many versions provided by the SDA Church, but the one in the link above is the version that Ellen White Endorsed. Below are multiple quotes written by Sister E.G.White which reveal the powerful part that this book was intended to play in God’s plan to communicate light and direct minds to the truths of our time. Here is the first quote: Manuscript Releases vol. pg. 63.9 The interest in Daniel and the Revelation is to continue as long as probationary time shall last. God used the author of this book as a channel through which to communicate light to direct minds to the truth. Shall we not appreciate this light, which points us to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our King? {1MR 63.1} The second and most profound aspect of this quote is that God Himself used the author of this book, Uriah Smith, to communicate the light of truth to the Church and the world. This certainly is a most significant and profound aspect of this … Continued

What Constitutes the True Remnant Church?

There are many things which constitute the True Remnant Church, but limiting it to a membership within the confines of the General Conference is not one of them. To prove this let’s go to the very credible source of the book of Revelations. After all, doesn’t the book the Revelation of Jesus Christ define the Remnant Church? Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. So the Bible defines the Remnant Church as keeping the commandments of God and having the testimony of Jesus Christ, but nowhere in the book of the Revelation nor in any book of the Bible does it define the Church as being confined to a membership within the General Conference. Let’s take another look at the book of Revelations to get some more insight about how things can be legitimately defined. Revelation 22:18-19 18 If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy … Continued

Daniel and the Revelation Fingers Turkey as King of the North

In several of her writings Ellen White said that the book Daniel and the Revelation was truth. She even went as far as to say that God used the author of Daniel and the Revelation to communicate light and direct minds to the truth. Now if Mrs. White had instructed us that God, yes, even GOD had used this author, Uriah Smith, to communicate light and truth for the modern times, then how can we doubt that it was truth, or that the figures as explained in the book could be mistaken? She even said that, “The interest in Daniel and the Revelation is to continue as long as probationary time shall last.” Keep in mind that the discussion pertaining to the modern day present truth identification of the King of the North in the book Daniel and the Revelations is contained in between the pages starting from the last paragraph on page 280 and ending on page 293. In those pages you will find that the King of the North is clearly defined as Turkey. 1MR 62.3 God desires the light found in the books of Daniel and Revelation to be presented in clear lines. It is painful to think of the many cheap theories picked up and presented to the people by ignorant, unprepared teachers. Those who present … Continued

Who are The Least of These?

Obviously, “The Least of These,” is referring to Matthew 25:45, but who are the Least of These? When Jesus was speaking He was describing the time when, “the Son of man shall come in his glory.” He spoke of separating the sheep from the goats. He then says: Matthew 25:45 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. When he is speaking of the Least of These, can he be speaking of the goats. Surely not since these are the ones who were to be sent off into eternal punishment. So who can the Least of these be unless they are those sheep who follow Him. Yes of course He is speaking of His disciples. Some would even say that He is referring to the lost sheep who are not following the Lord, and they may very well be correct. Nevertheless, isn’t the definition of a disciple one who adheres to the discipline of his master or teacher? We know that God, nor can He, bless those who are in disobedience or He would be dishonoring His Word. The Bible even teaches that those who are in open sin are not to be put out of the … Continued

Our Work

Here is the following quote Ellen White explains specifically what our work is to be: Testimonies 8 pg 9 par 1 What is our work? The same as that given to John the Baptist, of whom we read: “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.” {Matthew 3:1-3}. It is very common these days that is a Christian tells someone they are sinning they will be met with the response that they are being judgmental, but this is not consistent with the word of God. The word of God and the Spirit of Prophesy tell us that we are to give a message of repentance to the world and the church as is demonstrated in the quote above. Testimonies For the Church vol 8 pg 10 par 2 note that this quote starts in the 4th sentence of paragraph 2 Every obstacle to the redemption of God’s people is to be removed by the opening of His word and the presentation of a plain “Thus saith the Lord.” The true light … Continued

The AntiChrist

For many people in modern society the person spoken of in the Bible known as the antichrist is a mystery. In truth it is not that mysterious at all. There a many discriptions of the antichrist in the Bible and even a history of how he comes to power and what he will do. Many people, including the church reformers from which the protestant church came out of, have publicly declared who the antichrist is and they were correct. So how can we know who the antichrist is and what do the words “antichrist” actually mean in the original language, because that will certainly have a bearing on how to determine who the antichrist actually is.

A Time, and Times, and Half a Time

What is a Time, Times, and Half a Time? Well, it’s a direct quote from Revelation 12:14. It is also a direct (well almost a direct quote) from Daniel 7:25 and Daniel 12:7. We say it’s almost a direct quote because Daniel 7:25 King James Version translates to the word “dividing” instead of “half” and the word “and” is missing between time and times in Daniel 12:7 which are both trivial and it really means the same thing, but let’s get back to what it means. What is a time? A time is a year. For now the reader will just have to accept that as a fact. By the time we reach the end of this article we will have fully established that a time is a year. So if a time is a year, then what is a Time, and Times, and Half a Time. Well it’s Three and one half years. A Time is one year, Times are two years and half a time is a half a year. So 1 year + 2 years + 1/2 year = 3-1/2 years, but how do we know that it’s three and a half years? For instance couldn’t “Times” mean three or four or some other number of years as opposed to two years? Once again, the fact that … Continued

The Shaking

The shaking is something that both Paul the Apostle and Ellen White wrote about. It’s a very deep subject I’m sure, but one of the more pertinent aspects of the Shaking is that we want to be on the right side of “The Shaking.” You see there are those who will be shaken out and those which cannot be shaken. We don’t want to be shaken out, but we want to be among those which cannot be shaken but remain. Hebrews 12 :27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. To the subject of “The Shaking” Ellen White also wrote some very critical aspects. She is obviously talking about the 144,000, but in dictating this prophetic sequence of events there are golden nuggets of instruction. Let’s take a look at what she says so we can see what these golden nuggets are. I saw some, with strong faith and agonizing cries, pleading with God. Their countenances were pale, and marked with deep anxiety, expressive of their internal struggle. Firmness and great earnestness was expressed in their countenances; large drops of perspiration fell from their foreheads. Now and then their faces would light up with the marks of … Continued

In Bible Prophesy a Woman Represents the Church

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ” is a book of prophesy. Remember that in Bible Interpretation no prophesy of scripture is of any private interpretation, the Bible interprets itself {2nd Peter 1:20-21}. So in the Bible we find that a woman represents the church. Also in the Bible a harlot and a whore represents an apostate church: {Ezekiel 23:37} & {Isaiah 57:3-5}. Jeremiah 6:2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman. Isaiah 51:16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people. Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 2nd Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. Revelation 19:7-8 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of … Continued
