A Time, and Times, and Half a Time

What is a Time, Times, and Half a Time? Well, it’s a direct quote from Revelation 12:14. It is also a direct (well almost a direct quote) from Daniel 7:25 and Daniel 12:7. We say it’s almost a direct quote because Daniel 7:25 King James Version translates to the word “dividing” instead of “half” and the word “and” is missing between time and times in Daniel 12:7 which are both trivial and it really means the same thing, but let’s get back to what it means. What is a time? A time is a year. For now the reader will just have to accept that as a fact. By the time we reach the end of this article we will have fully established that a time is a year. So if a time is a year, then what is a Time, and Times, and Half a Time. Well it’s Three and one half years. A Time is one year, Times are two years and half a time is a half a year. So 1 year + 2 years + 1/2 year = 3-1/2 years, but how do we know that it’s three and a half years? For instance couldn’t “Times” mean three or four or some other number of years as opposed to two years? Once again, the fact that … Continued

The Shaking

The shaking is something that both Paul the Apostle and Ellen White wrote about. It’s a very deep subject I’m sure, but one of the more pertinent aspects of the Shaking is that we want to be on the right side of “The Shaking.” You see there are those who will be shaken out and those which cannot be shaken. We don’t want to be shaken out, but we want to be among those which cannot be shaken but remain. Hebrews 12 :27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. To the subject of “The Shaking” Ellen White also wrote some very critical aspects. She is obviously talking about the 144,000, but in dictating this prophetic sequence of events there are golden nuggets of instruction. Let’s take a look at what she says so we can see what these golden nuggets are. I saw some, with strong faith and agonizing cries, pleading with God. Their countenances were pale, and marked with deep anxiety, expressive of their internal struggle. Firmness and great earnestness was expressed in their countenances; large drops of perspiration fell from their foreheads. Now and then their faces would light up with the marks of … Continued

In Bible Prophesy a Woman Represents the Church

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ” is a book of prophesy. Remember that in Bible Interpretation no prophesy of scripture is of any private interpretation, the Bible interprets itself {2nd Peter 1:20-21}. So in the Bible we find that a woman represents the church. Also in the Bible a harlot and a whore represents an apostate church: {Ezekiel 23:37} & {Isaiah 57:3-5}. Jeremiah 6:2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman. Isaiah 51:16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people. Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 2nd Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. Revelation 19:7-8 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of … Continued

Revelation 1

1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: What is significant in verse one of Revelation Chapter One is that John said that Jesus signified the message. In other words the message was given in signs and symbols. Anyone who has studied Revelations knows that there is many symbols in it. Secondly, He gave it to His servants. So if you are his servant, then you will receive it and pay very careful attention to the meaning of the words, the symbols and the Spirit in which it was given. Conversely, those who are not interested in understanding it are by definition not the servants of Jesus, for it is for the Master to decide what the servant is to know and not the servant. 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. What is significant about verse 2 is that it says “The Revelation” is the testimony of Jesus Christ. So in other words the testimony of Jesus Christ is “The Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.” Note that in {Revelations 12:17} it says that the … Continued

The Latter Rain

So it may be now. Let Christians put away all dissension and five themselves to God for the saving of the lost. Let them ask in faith for the promised blessing, and it will come. The outpouring of the Spirit in the days of the apostles was “the former rain,” and glorious was the result. But the latter rain will be more abundant. What is the promise to those living in these last days? “Turn you to the stronghold, ye prosoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee.” “Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.” Zechariah 9: 12; 10: 1. {8T 21.2}

Revelation Chapter 13

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, … Continued

Bible Interpretation

Before we look at how the Bible interprets itself, I should mention that there was a scholarly man who established 14 rules of Bible interpretation. This man, William Miller, was not a scholar by profession, nor by a secular standard of education. He became a scholar through the practice of studying the Bible. This man was William Miller and he produced the 14 rules of Bible Interpretation and they led up to an event known as the “Three Angel Messages” in Seventh Day Adventist history. One very significant point is that speaking of William Miller in the first paragraph of the chapter titled, “William Miller,” in her book “Early Writings“, Ellen White said the Angels of God repeatedly visited William Miller to guide his mind and give him understanding of Biblical Prophesy. This is the greatest reason I find that William Miller’s 14 Rules of Bible Interpretation are so significant. Early Writings pg 229 par 1 God sent His angel to move upon the heart of a farmer who had not believed the Bible, to lead him to search the prophecies. Angels of God repeatedly visited that chosen one, to guide his mind and open to his understanding prophecies which had ever been dark to God’s people. {EW 229.1} There seem to be many varying gospel interpretations in today’s Christian … Continued

The Gospel Truth

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus came to die for our sins and to restore the image of God in mankind. It was Satan’s studied purpose to destroy the image of God in man. By the same token it must be your studied purpose to restore the image of God into your own person. How do we do that? Well of course you cannot do it yourself, but you must rely on Jesus to accomplish it for you. We can do nothing without Jesus. John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Does this mean that we don’t have to do anything to be saved but just believe in Jesus. Certainly it does not. According to the Bible we have a part to play. We must have faith in God the Father and His Son Jesus our Savior. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. So what is faith? How do we put our faith in God? James explains it very well. James 3:17-26 17 Even so … Continued

The Law of God Has Not Changed

Habakkuk 3:6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting. Here is Habakkuk the prophet of old shows that God’s ways are everlasting. So not only is God everylasing, but his ways are everlasting. If God changed then He would not be everlasting, but he would become something new and so he would not really be everlasting, but a new thing that started at a certain point in time, but He does not change and even His ways are everlasting. James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Jesus also never Changes. Jesus is one with God and was with God from the very beginning. Matthew 5:17-20 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the … Continued
