Papal Pronunciation of Social and Econimic Matters with Supreme Authority

This is a statement about Pope Leo XIII written by Pope Pius XI in his Encyclical Quadragesimo Anno published on May 15, 1931 “That principle which Leo XIII so clearly established must be laid down at the outset here, namely, that there resides in Us [the Papacy] the right and duty to pronounce with supreme authority upon social and economic matters.” Pope Pius XI, Ecnyclical Quadragesimo Anno, May 15, 1931, paragraph 41 This is a quote from the Council of Trent which was held between the years of 1545 and 1563: “All temporal power is his; the dominion, jurisdiction, and government of the whole Earth is his by divine right. All rulers of the Earth are his subjects and must submit to him.” John W. Robbins, Ecclesiastical Megalomania, p. 131 This is a quote from, “The Political Ideas of St. Thomas Aquinas,” “In order that spiritual matters might be kept separate from temporal ones, the ministry of this [spiritual] kingdom was entrusted not to earthly kings but to priests and expecially to the highest of them, the successor of St. Peter, Vicar of Christ, the Roman Pontiff, to whom all kings must be subject just as they are subject to our Lord Jesus. For those whom the care of an intermediate end pertains should be subject to him to whom … Continued

God’s Remnant Church Will Acknowledge God’s Law and Have the Prophetic Gift

Revelation 12:17 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” This prophecy points out clearly that the remnant church will acknowledge God in His law and will have the prophetic gift. Obedience to the law of God, and the spirit of prophecy has always distinguished the true people of God, and the test is usually given on present manifestations. {LLM 33.5}

God Gave the Testimonies to Bring His People Back to the Word of God

“Brother J would confuse the mind by seeking to make it appear that the light God has given through the Testimonies is an addition to the word of God, but in this he presents the matter in a false light. God has seen fit in this manner to bring the minds of His people to His word, to give them a clearer understanding of it.” [Testimonies for the Church 4:246 (1876).] The word of God is sufficient to enlighten the most beclouded mind and may be understood by those who have any desire to understand it. But notwithstanding all this, some who profess to make the word of God their study are found living in direct opposition to its plainest teachings. Then, to leave men and women without excuse, God gives plain and pointed testimonies, bringing them back to the word that they have neglected to follow.” [Testimonies for the Church 2:455 (1870).] The word of God abounds in general principles for the formation of correct habits of living, and the testimonies, general and personal, have been calculated to call their attention more especially to these principles.” [Testimonies for the Church 4:323 (1879).] {5T 663.2} If you had made God’s word your study, with a desire to reach the Bible standard and attain to Christian perfection, you would not have … Continued

The Heart that Loves God Supremely, will Not in Any Way be Inclined to Narrow Down His Precepts

The law of Jehovah is exceedingly broad. Jesus … plainly declared to His disciples that this holy law of God may be violated in even the thoughts and feelings and desires, as well as in the word and deed. The heart that loves God supremely will not in any way be inclined to narrow down His precepts to the very smallest possible claims, but the obedient, loyal soul will cheerfully render full spiritual obedience when the law is seen in its spiritual power. Then will the commandments come home to the soul in their real force. Sin will appear exceedingly sinful…. There is no longer self-righteousness, self-esteem, self-honor. Self-security is gone. Deep conviction of sin and self-loathing is the result, and the soul in its desperate sense of peril lays hold on the blood of the Lamb of God as his only remedy…. {OHC 140.2} Many are deceiving their own souls today. They restrict the injunctions of God to condemn outward acts alone, and do not consider it sin to dishonor God in thoughts and affections. They flatter themselves that they are keeping the law of Jehovah while their life and character as daguerreotyped [photographed] in the books of heaven reveal them as venturing to see how far they can go in the direction of wrongdoing without being branded as … Continued

The Testimony of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of Prophecy

What is the Testimony of Jesus Christ?: It is the Spirit of Prophecy: Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. According to Pastor Bohr, a better translation is, “and possess the testimony of Jesus Christ”, as opposed to, “and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” See the definition of the word “have” in Revelation 12:17 at the bottom of this page. So the end time Remnant Church will keep the commandments of God and they will have the testimony of Jesus Christ. So what is the testimony of Jesus Christ? Revelation 19:10 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Notice that the angel said that he is the fellow servant of John and his brethren who have the testimony of Jesus Christ, and that testimony is the Spirit of Prophesy. Revelation 22:9 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, … Continued

Beholding We Become Changed

It is a law both of the intellectual and the spiritual nature that by beholding we become changed. The mind gradually adapts itself to the subjects upon which it is allowed to dwell. It becomes assimilated to that which it is accustomed to love and reverence. Man will never rise higher than his standard of purity or goodness or truth. If self is his loftiest ideal, he will never attain to anything more exalted. Rather, he will constantly sink lower and lower. The grace of God alone has power to exalt man. Left to himself, his course must inevitably be downward. {GC 555.1}

True Holiness is Wholeness in the Service of God

True holiness is wholeness in the service of God. This is the condition of true Christian living. Christ asks for an unreserved consecration, for undivided service. He demands the heart, the mind, the soul, the strength. Self is not to be cherished. He who lives to himself is not a Christian. {COL 48.4} Love must be the principle of action. Love is the underlying principle of God’s government in heaven and earth, and it must be the foundation of the Christian’s character. This alone can make and keep him steadfast. This alone can enable him to withstand trial and temptation. {COL 49.1} And love will be revealed in sacrifice. The plan of redemption was laid in sacrifice—a sacrifice so broad and deep and high that it is immeasurable. Christ gave all for us, and those who receive Christ will be ready to sacrifice all for the sake of their Redeemer. The thought of His honor and glory will come before anything else. {COL 49.2} If we love Jesus, we shall love to live for Him, to present our thank offerings to Him, to labor for Him. The very labor will be light. For His sake we shall covet pain and toil and sacrifice. We shall sympathize with His longing for the salvation of men. We shall feel the same tender … Continued

If We Say We Have No Sin We Deceive Ourselves

1st John 1:8-10 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Isaiah 58 1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. 3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. 4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. 5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man … Continued

The Dangers of Eating Meat

A Reform Needed If Seventh-day Adventists practiced what they profess to believe, if they were sincere health reformers, they would indeed be a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. And they would show a far greater zeal for the salvation of those who are ignorant of the truth. {RH May 27, 1902, par. 1} Those Eating Flesh of Animals Endanger Their Physical, Mental and Spiritual Health Greater reforms should be seen among the people who claim to be looking for the soon appearing of Christ. Health reform is to do among our people a work which it has not yet done. There are those who ought to be awake to the danger of meat eating, who are still eating the flesh of animals, thus endangering the physical, mental, and spiritual health. Many who are now only half converted on the question of meat eating will go from God’s people, to walk no more with them. {RH May 27, 1902, par. 2} The controlling power of appetite will prove the ruin of thousands, when, if they had conquered on this point, they would have had moral power to gain the victory over every other temptation of Satan. But those who are slaves to appetite will fail in perfecting Christian character. The continual transgression of man for six thousand … Continued

1st John 5:17-18 in Different Translations

1st John 5:17-18 KJV 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 1st John 5:17-18 NIV 17 Every wrong thing we do is sin. But there are sins that do not lead to death. 18 We know that those who are children of God do not keep on sinning. The Son of God keeps them safe. The evil one can’t harm them. A Solemn Warning for All the Churches Thus they keep back a portion of the gospel… having studied in the devil’s new Jesuitical college, I don’t know how to properly quote things, but this is a quote from Charles H. Spurgeon. It comes from sermon 68 which he preached on February 24, 1856. You can see it on the following webpage. Charles H. Spurgeon’s Sermon Feb 24, 1856
